A message from your ChairmanD Hall

Our January 28th event marked the 50th social for ypB, haven't we come a long way?  LEAD Brevard created ypB in 2005 as part of its Brevard Tomorrow Initiative in an effort to retain young professionals in our community so that we could ensure and exciting and vibrant future here on the Space Coast.

Many of you have been with us since our inception- in a sense, we have grown up together.  Thank you for your membership and for your leadership.  Now over 200 members strong, we are continuing our mission to inspire and empower career-minded individuals to engage in civic, social and professional development.  This being said, ypB is evolving to meet the changing needs of our changing community.  2010 will bring you some great new programming as well as some exciting changes.  We will be answering your requests for more varied programming and more purpose driven networking opportunities.  We will be offering you networking socials and signature events on alternating month schedule.  During February, Awareness and Community Service month, you are invited to LEAD Brevard's Annual 4 Under 40 event recognizing individuals under 40 making a difference in our community.  We will also be partnering with United Way's Emerging Leaders and Brevard Achievement Center for some great community based events.

As always, I want to recognize the work of our oversight committee, without whom we could not bring you the quality of programs that we do!  Most importantly, I'd like to recognize you, our members.  You are the life blood of this program and we're excited to have you with us for this journey!

David Hall
ypB Chairman

Upcoming Events

This month, ypB is partnering with United Way’s Emerging Leaders and Brevard Achievement Center to bring you some very community minded events:

February 16 – Breakfast with Leaders

Dayle Olson – President, Brevard Achievement Center

8:00 - 9:30 am
Brevard Achievement Center
1845 Cogswell St., Rockledge

When Dayle Olson became president of BAC in 1985, the organization had an annual budget of under $2 Million and 83 employees.  Today, BAC has over 700 people on their payroll and an annual budget of over $25 Million!  Not your average CEO, Dayle is also a renowned harpist…and once upon a time he used to bike (yes, on a bicycle) across the state of Iowa every year.  Join us for Breakfast on Feb. 16 to learn how he has done and achieved so much.

RSVP to Alecia McCoy or 631.2740 by February 11th.

Register Now for the 6th Annual 4 Under 40!

As the community leadership connection in Brevard County, LEAD Brevard recognizes the need for our community to applaud the contributions of our emerging leaders in the public, private and non profit sectors who make contributions to improve our overall quality of life. While we can all name existing community leaders, how many of us know an individual who is ‘emerging’ in their leadership role in our community? It’s time to showcase these new community leaders!

Each year, individuals from throughout the community are nominated, from that pool twelve become finalists.  Help us celebrate these twelve and the top 4 under 40 on Friday, February 19th, 2010 at the Bernie Simpkins Auditorium on the Campus of Brevard Community College in Cocoa for an evening of entertainment and celebration.  This year's event will feature National Recording Artist Christian Tamburr and the Christian Tamburr Quartet. For more information call LEAD Brevard at 321.632.8222 or E-mail Erica@LEADBrevard.org

Tickets are $75 each, or receive a 10% discount on a block of 4 or more seats.
